News

May 5, 2015: The ABCDSM continues to establish ourselves as an independent certifying board. Our logo has been registered by the Patent and Trademark Office as trademark Registration No. 4731198, effective May 5, 2015.

January 16, 2015: The ABCDSM Inaugural Diplomate Luncheon and Meeting will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate advances in Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine while enjoying fun, fellowship and camaraderie of fellow ABCDSM Diplomates. All ABCDSM Diplomates in good standing are encouraged to attend.

September 1, 2014: The ABCDSM is pleased to announce that Robert L. Talley, DDS (Norman, OK) has been officially installed as the first president of the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Talley is a graduate of University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, and has limited his private practice exclusively management of sleep disorders and craniofacial pain and TMJ disorders since 1983. He also teaches Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine courses in conjunction with Southwest Clinical Study Associates, and the AACP Institute of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. July 15, 2014: Documentation of supplementary requirements necessary for ABCDSM Diplomate credentialing may now be submitted a) upon application, b) at the time of the written examination, or c) within one year of taking the written examination. This change is effective with our winter 2015 examination.

May 14, 2014: The ABCDSM is now an official Virginia Non-Profit 501(c)6 corporation. Previously, Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine examinations and the awarding of Diplomate status had been managed under the auspices of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain.

July 28, 2013: Participation by dentists in the first Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine credentialing examination, administered on July 28, 2013, at the Sheraton Hotel & Marina in San Diego, CA, was tremendous. We would like to acknowledge all of the dentists who sat for the exam and thank Dr. Jeanne K. Bailey, Examination Committee Chair, for ensuring that all ran smoothly.

Attaining Diplomate status is an important professional achievement that signifies to patients plus dental, medical and other healthcare professionals that these doctors have met the highest standards of care as set forth by the ABCDSM. These standards recognize that dental management of sleep disorders should be performed by dentists who have knowledge and experience in overall health, the craniofacial complex, the TMJ and associated oral structures, and dental occlusion.
